Common Slides Design Mistakes

In 2012, I compiled the top 10 design mistakes for PowerPoint based on the multimedia learning principles and my own experience. I also briefly illustrated a remedy for each design mistake. People still make those mistakes in 2022.  

This is a handout version of the 10 Leading Causes of Death by PowerPoint video. This can come in handy when I mention Death by PowerPoint (DBPP) in my one-on-one consultation with an instructor. 

This is an extended version in which I included the design mistakes not included in my DBPP video and chart.

I created a bunch of slides featuring the major design mistakes and used the slide deck for a whole-class discussion to analyze and improve slide designs in my instructional technology course.
